⚡ Wh vs W: the one thing to understand
These two numbers trip everyone up. Watt-hours (Wh) measure capacity — how much total energy is stored, and therefore how long things run. Watts (W) measure output — how much power you can pull at any instant, and therefore what you can run at all. A kettle needs high W (2000W+); a phone needs almost none. A big battery with a small inverter can't run a kettle; a small battery with a big inverter runs it, but not for long.
Battery chemistry: why LiFePO4 wins
Most quality units now use LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) cells. Compared with older lithium-ion, they last far longer (3,000+ charge cycles versus a few hundred), are safer and more thermally stable, and cope better with the UK's temperature swings. If longevity matters — and it should — look for LiFePO4.
